Notes: Iskandar; from book # 2235 "Voyage archéologique dans la régence de Tunis" by Victor Guerin, including a folding table "Ouvrage accompagné d'une grande carte de la régence et d'une planche reproduisant la célèbre inscription bilingue de Thugga."; Victor Guérin travelled extensively in Palestine and Northern Africa for archeological surveys and research. He was a member of the Ecole française d'Athêne and of the Société de Géographie de Paris. The importance of Guerin for archeology is that he was the first explorer in Tunesia who showed an interest in other sites than Carthage, as all researches and excavations till then were limited to that site only. The results of his work are described in this book i 2 volumes. Gay 1338; scale measured on central degree of latitude.
