Notes: | Source Ruderman]; Detailed map of the fortifications at Gibraltar, with 3 views and inset maps. The map illustrates Gibraltar after the Treaty of Utrecht The map shows Gibraltar, Majorca and Minorca, engraved by Sutton Nicholls (fl. ca. 1687 - 1725?), an engraver, map and printseller. The map was likely first issued by Nicholls in about 1712-1713, at the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. The address on the map suggests a date of 1727, the same year as Spain's second attempt to recapture Gibraltar. |
